The 2021 Excellence in Education Awards Are Sunday
The 2021 Excellence in Education Awards, presented by Friends For A Better Buffalo, will be televised on Sunday, May 2.
The 2021 Excellence in Education Awards will showcase and honor the 125 finalists include teachers, support staff, and administrators. The Awards celebration scheduled to kickoff Teachers Appreciation Week, which is Monday, May 3, 2021, through Friday, May 7, 2021. The awards show will air as a virtual black-tie event television program on Sunday, May 2, 2021, starting at 8:00 pm. You can view it on WBBZ-TV (channels 67 and 5) in the eight counties that make up Western New York. It will also stream on Facebook.
The candidates were selected based on the following criteria,
Candidates must demonstrate excellence in which their work consistently helps students, and/or their schools or school district advance to higher levels of academic achievement; dedication where they go above and beyond expectations to help students succeed; Inspiration where their work inspires others around them to exceed expectations either academically or professionally; clear leadership skills in their positions with their schools or school district; and clear and positive results on the educational advancement of students within their school or school district. ~ Friends For A Better Buffalo organization via a press released emailed to me
The event will be co-hosted by Kameron Woods, a Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts graduate, who is now an actor, film director, assistant director, and producer, as well as journalist Emily Lampa. The show will feature performances by saxophonist Will Holton, Cami Clune, who was a contestant on "The Voice" in 2020, Buffalo’s High School Rising Musical performer, Ricsean Hall, and Daniel Croix, who attended the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts and currently stars in the Tyler Perry white-house drama "The Oval."
New York Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, Mayor Byron Brown, Buffalo Bill Steve Tasker, Buffalo Common Council President Darius Pridgen, Dr. Candance Johnson of Roswell Park, and Assembly Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes, will be featured as presenters and speakers.
