10 Inmates Arrested In Albany County Shakedown
The Albany County Sheriff's Office conducted a “shakedown” of the Albany County Correctional Facility and arrested 10 inmates.
Members of the Albany County Sheriff's Office worked along with the Correctional Staff, K-9 Deputies, and other investigators to conduct a thorough search of the Albany County Detention Center and arrested ten inmates so far. During the search, investigators found all kinds of contraband in the inmates’ cells.
Investigators found 6 shanks, 2 broken tablets, and 64 pills. The shanks are frequently used as weapons in jail. The inmates were charged with both felony and misdemeanor counts.
Mario Figueroa of Troy was charged with one count of second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband (Misdemeanor).
Marshall A. Ayers of Albany was charged with one count of second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband (Misdemeanor).
Remingtong Agueta-Rosales of Maryland was charged with one count of second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband.
Thomas Bessette Jr. of Albany was charged with one count on second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband ( Misdemeanor).
Tyshaun Purvis of Troy was charged with one count of second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband (Misdemeanor).
Ares Baretto of Troy was charged with one count of third-degree Criminal Mischief (Felony).
Olajuwon Johnson of Albany was charged with one count of first-degree Promoting Prison Contraband (Felony) and one count of third-degree Criminal Possession (Felony).
Kyree Taylor of Albany was charged with one count of second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband (Misdemeanor).
Duria Washington of Albany was charged with one count of second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband (Misdemeanor).
David Matthews of Cohoes was charged with one count of third-degree Criminal Mischief (Felony).
Law enforcement officials have not indicated where the pills were found. The real question is how did the contraband get into the jail in the first place? All of the aforementioned individuals will be arraigned in the Town of Colonie Court at a later date.
