January 22, 2013 Anita Ward's “Ring My Bell” was the dance disco anthem in 1979. It was #1 one for 5 straight weeks and was one of those songs that would constantly RING in your head.
January 21, 2013 The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of many that made an impact on African American people in this country as well as all people. He stood for civil rights and equality for all and we should all be thankful and proud of that and the many accomplishments that he made and those that have been made over the many years since his death.

Today’s 1 Hit Wonder at 1 “Set It Off” by Strafe takes you back to 1984 and was a big get you on the floor dance record and still accomplishes that feat today.
This is one of those songs also that it seemed as if it would never end if the extended version was played!

My recent family trip to Ancient Kemet (also known as Egypt) was an eye-opening experience that reaffirmed a number of things that I had either read about or seen in videos. From the time that we boarded Egypt Air at Kennedy Airport, the symbols of Heru (a.k.a. Horus) was everywhere, from the wing on the outside of the plane to the items inside the plane. This was confirmation that the journey I have walked for the past 20-plus years was about to ascend to a whole new level — we were on our way to Africa-the cradle of civilization!
July 18, 2012 During the first few days of our vacation, there was a lady in our group that had got information about me and what I do at WBLK.
She heard about the Know Thyself Campaign on the station and told Jim Smith (who is from Buffalo and on this tour) that she had come home on the Know Thyself Educational Tour to spread the ashes of her two sons, 17 and 18, who were killed by violence in the street, into the Hapi (a.k.a Nile River).
July 16, 2012 Our morning started out with a 5 a.m. wake-up call, followed by breakfast at 6 a.m., when all luggage had to be outside the room for pick-up. At 7 a.m., we were on our way to Aswan, the land of Nubia -- but not before we made two stops.

It reached as high as number 10 on the R&B charts and is still plyed to this day whenever the muisc theme is old school or throwbacks!

It seems that every time I sit down to write about the 1 hit Wonder @ 1 I am taking a trip back in time to my days in High School! Well, today is no exception; here is another song that we use to party to back in the early eighties. I mean every time I hear it—it seems like I am right back in that time and space—Wow!
June 11, 2012 Today’s One Hit Wonder At 1 “Let’s Start The Dance by Georgia native, percussionist, band leader and producer Hamilton Bohannon was a top 10 hit back in 1978.
The first couple of notes from the song are so distinctive that there is no mistaking it for any other song. With the title “Let’s Start The Dance”, it would definitely get the dance started at any party whether it be in the club, or in the crib.
