Millions Without Power; Philadelphia and New York Under Hurricane Warning [VIDEO]
As Irene came crashing in on the North Carolina-Virginia coast, millions of people are currently without power, while Philadelphia and New York City remain under Hurricane warning.
About 2 million Virginia homes were without power Saturday night.
The subway shutdown and came to a grinding halt in New York, as the streets of the city emptied. "Even if you have to walk, evacuate now," said Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter declared a state of emergency, for the first time since 1986.
Irene, smashed into the North Carolina coast Saturday morning as a category 1 storm, with sustained winds of approximately 94 MPH.
