An irate mom and her teenage niece were arrested after choking, punching and kicking a teacher unconscious inside a middle school in Hempstead, Long Island, reports the New York Daily News.

Annika McKenzie, 34, allegedly received a phone call from her daughter who attends Alverta B. Gray Schutlz Middle School, claiming that a veteran math teacher "put her hands on her 12-year-old daughter," according to police.

That's when McKenzie decided to go to the school and jump the teacher, with the help of her niece and other students at the school. The mother put the teacher in a choke hold until she lost consciousness for a few minutes.

McKenzie was arraigned at Nassau County's First District Court on Thursday, charged with second-degree assault and strangulation. Bail was set at $5,000.

The niece, who was not named, has been charged as a minor.
