Lt. Nolan Anderson, 50, a 25-year veteran of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s department, was on-duty and in uniform when he was shot and killed by fellow deputies during a domestic violence dispute with his wife, reports WGNO.com.

“No other deputy shot, no other deputy injured,” Louisiana State Trooper Melissa Matey said.

Investigators are puzzled and trying to find out why was Anderson at his daughter’s house in Laplace, Louisiana in the early afternoon on Wednesday after requesting other officers to come to the residence.

When they got there the situation began to get out of hand when allegedly, Anderson was asked to drop his weapon, but he refused. When he refused to do so that is when deputies opened fire and fatally wounded him in order to protect individuals at the residence including themselves.
