Christopher Columbus was born in Italy...at least that's what's speculated...but he seemed to claim to be Spanish.   He was NOT piloting either of the three ships ( the Santa Maria, The Pinta or  the Nina) set a-sail for  the discovery of NEW LAND (his plan was to sail to Japan) and ended up in the Bahamas.  He continued his journey with 3 more voyages and eventually reached a NEW CONTINENT...well it wasn't actually NEW...it was only NEW to Europeans (the fancy name for the Caucasian Race...he, I'm just keepin' it REAL)...and once Christopher Columbus found this NEW LAND (new to Europeans) he DISCOVERED it was already inhabited by a people he named "INDIOS" (that's Spanish for Indians).

Because Mr. Columbus and his European entourage had superior communication skills and manpower...and because the Indians had no religion...Christianity was taught to the Indians as they also overcame the Indians' and claimed their land as theirs.

According to Wikipedia, this is what Christopher Columbus wrote in his diary (doesn't surprise me):

"Many of the men I have seen have scars on their bodies, and when I made signs to them to find out how this happened, they indicated that people from other nearby islands come to San Salvador to capture them; they defend themselves the best they can. I believe that people from the mainland come here to take them as slaves. They ought to make good and skilled servants, for they repeat very quickly whatever we say to them. I think they can very easily be made Christians, for they seem to have no religion. If it pleases our Lord, I will take six of them to Your Highnesses when I depart, in order that they may learn our language."[44] He remarked that their lack of modern weaponry and even metal-forged swords or pikes was a tactical vulnerability, writing, "I could conquer the whole of them with 50 men, and govern them as I pleased."

This sounds to me like a familiar EUROPEAN practice.  This is not a racist blog nor is it intended to be viewed as such.  It is REALISTIC rather then Racist...there's a HUGE difference.  Ironically, what Christopher Columbus did and what the United States allows to be taught and celebrated as a National Holiday IS indeed Racism at it best...not to mention the fact that, according to Wikipedia, "there is no authentic contemporary portrait of Christopher Columbus"...in other words, no one knows what he looked like...which leads me to believe the EUROPEANS did to him what they did to Jesus...made him in "thier" image.  I'm done.  Happy Fake Discovery Day.
