New York State Police are hoping someone might have new information to help them solve this 18-year-old homicide. Yvonne Torch was beaten and murdered at her salon almost two decades ago on Wednesday, June 9, 2004. She owned and operated “His and Hers Salon,” which was located on SR-9W in the Town of Newburgh. The 31-year-old wife and mother was killed at approximately 10:48 am. A customer who came into the salon found Torch dead.

Her husband, Pierre Torch, spoke to Dateline, hoping to encourage anyone with information to come forward. He said,

I have a lot of faith right now. I’m really hoping something’s going to happen soon.

Mr. Torch was ruled out as a suspect. In 2007 he traveled to New York City to film an episode of the Montell Williams Show. Psychic Sylvia Browne was there to consult with Mr. Torch about his wife's murder. Brown gave him a suspect's name and motive. Mr. Torch told the Times Herald-Rcord,

The person that did this was someone that was sexually attracted to her, who she had rejected. That day they got into an argument over a haircut.

At the time, Mr. Torch said he turned the name into police, but it would seem that nothing ever came of it. Investigator Matthew Schaffer told Dateline that there are currently no known suspects or motives in Torch's murder, but that police are reading every document and sifting through old evidence.

With new advancements in science and technology, police are hoping to finally solve her murder and give her family closure. If you have any information that might help solve this case, please contact Investigators Jeffrey Dalton or Matthew Schaffer, NYSP Troop F – Major Crimes Unit at (845) 344-5300.
