Christmas is a magical time for children, and so many people and organizations come together to make sure that every child and struggling family in Buffalo has the support they need to make this holiday season a joyful one.

Agents for Advocacy is stepping forward to help and raise awareness on the socioeconomic disparities within our community — not just during the holiday season, but well into 2023 and beyond.

Mark Talley was inspired to start Agents for Advocacy after his mother, Geraldine C. Talley, was fatally shot by a white supremacist at Tops on May 14, 2022. Prior to that, he faced a number of academic, social, and health struggles — including falling in with the wrong crowd in high school, dropping out of the first college he attended, and trying to manage partial complex epilepsy. He understands many of the challenges facing our community and is committed to being an agent for change.

If you're looking for a way to give back to those who need it most, then I want to invite you to step up and help my friend Mark and his organization. You can donate directly online at agentsforadvocacy.org or by attending the organization's "Drop Me Off in Harlem" networking fundraising event:

What: "Drop Me Off in Harlem" networking fundraising event, a 1920s-themed gala with food and cash bar
When: 5-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18
Where: Main Events Banquet Hall 1420 Main Street, Buffalo

Let's show our support to this incredible organization to promote lasting change in 2023 and beyond. Agents For Advocacy will be announcing more events in the coming days, so be sure to stay tuned to WBLK for more info/dates as they come.
