Whether we like it or not, winter in Western New York is finally in full swing, and the snow that is on the way is sure to bring cold temperatures with it. Living in New York State just goes arm-in-arm with that, and it becomes a way of life.

While winters are generally pretty bearable for most of the year, from time to time, we get smacked with a winter storm or two that causes us to significantly change our normal daily routines.

Just days after New York State and Pennsylvania were hit with a major lake effect snowstorm, the National Weather Service is expecting Buffalo and its surrounding areas to receive another blast of wintery weather and cold temperatures already impacting the region.

Schools all over Western New York have announced they are closing in anticipation of the second winter storm to hit the region in less than a week.

For Buffalo Public Schools, this is an official snow day and not a remote learning day. BPS isn't the only district that has announced its closing on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Cheektowaga Central, Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, Depew Public, Hamburg, Eden Central, and more have announced their closing.
