Wiz Khalifa might have missed out on playing his Idol in the upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic, but he beat out Detroit artists Big Sean & Royce da 5'9 for Top New Artist at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. Video Inside.

Wiz’s debut album “Rolling Papers” debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 197,000 copies in the United States and entered at number one on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Rap Albums chart.

The album’s featured lead single “Black and Yellow” which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and Rap Songs chart, reached six on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and eventually attained sales of 2,342,000 in the US alone.
