This past weekend, I woke up to a sunny morning and headed out to the shed to get my trusty mower to cut the grass.  My wife said to me, "What are you doing?", to which I replied "mowing the lawn".

She said, "Not at 8 am you're not...it's Saturday"

It's an age-old debate.  What time is it ok to fire up the old mower, and cut the grass on a Saturday morning? I had an agenda for the day.  I wanted to head to the farmers market in North Tonawanda to grab some steaks, I had some sanding to do on my daughter's swing set, and I wanted to spend some quality time in the hammock that afternoon.

So I figured that getting the mow the lawn box checked first thing in the morning, while i still had some shade on a day that was going to be pushing 85 degrees was the way to go.  Apparently, I was wrong.

We took to Facebook to ask Western New Yorkers what time is acceptable to be mowing your lawn on a Saturday morning.  Here is what they had to say.

An overwhelming amount of Western New Yorkers (51%) told us that 9 am was the acceptable time to start mowing, followed by 8 am (19%), 10 am (18%), and 7 am (12%).

There were a few other outlying responses.  Some said if you have an electric mower, you can mow whenever you want.  A few others said 12 noon.  And a handful of people said 6 am, but they are just wrong.

So, it turns out my wife was right, I shouldn't have fired up the mower at 8 am on Saturday.  And in case you were wondering, I waited until we got back from the farmers market, and mowed at 10:30 am.
