Today during his press conference, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that people in New York State can no longer just order alcohol while at a restaurant, they will also need to order food.

According to WIVB, The Governor said the new rule applies to all restaurants in the state.

During the telephone conference, Cuomo said there was still a lack of compliance on social distancing and mask-wearing throughout the state, which is why the new restaurant guidance was issued.

When COVID-19 first impacted the state, restaurants were able to sell alcohol with food for pick-up and delivery, but when indoor and outdoor dining began, people could just order drinks while at the restaurant.

Cuomo also stated that restaurants that violate state guidelines will have their names placed on a New York State website so people will know which places have received citations for violating COVID-19 guidelines.

Several restaurants in Western New York have already been cited for violations with two places forced to close this past week alone.

The Stage, which was one of the places forced to closed, announced they are working with Health inspectors and would be reopen this week.
