Ty Dolla Faces 15 Years in Prison for Felony Drug Possession
Ty Dolla $ign has been indicted on three felony drug possession charges, including cocaine possession.
According to TMZ, on Dec. 10, a grand jury indicted the "Goin Thru Some Thangz" rapper, born Tyrone Griffin Jr., on three counts: felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of THC and misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of weed. The charges stem from Ty Dolla's arrest in Atlanta on Sept. 5.
The indictment is pretty serious. If convicted, Ty Dolla could face 15 years in prison.
The arrest was pretty intense. In a video obtained by TMZ, several police officers searched Ty Dolla's limousine van while the hitmaker and his associates, which included Skrillex, were handcuffed. A cop can be heard saying that they found some marijuana, while drug dogs were barking crazy.
When the police officer asked if anyone wants to claim the weed, Ty remained silent and was escorted to a police car alongside another individual.
"He had no drugs on his person at all," Ty Dolla's attorney Drew Findling told Channel 2 Action News after the arrest. "Apparently, a small amount of some drug found in the car, and they let five people walk away. And they let the international superstar go into custody."
Findling added that his client had no prior criminal history. Ty Dolla was subsequently released on $6,000 bond.
Reps for Ty Dolla Sign had no comment on the matter.
