President Says Checks Are Coming To New Yorkers If His Party Wins

As we get closer to the 2026 midterm Congressional Elections, the President of the United States has doubled down on his claim that every New Yorker will get a check from the US Treasury if people vote for his party in November.

The claim that people will receive a Trump Dividend started earlier this year as this years election season started to ramp up. But then President Trump took a harder stance on the checks coming during the Republican Midterm Convention that happened in Dallas, Texas, last month.

If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000. It will be called the Trump dividend.

These checks is just the lastest in a number of promosies of free money that would be sent to Americans:

First in early 2025, the President promised Americans across the country they would receive as much as $5,000 from the savings that came from the DOGE program. When the DOGE program was shut down, there was very little savings and no money was sent to Americans.

Then later in 2025, Trump said that the government was making so much money from tariffs that were being paid by Americans on imported goods, that we would all receive a $2,000 tariff dividend. Those funds have yet to be received.

Given that track record, we asked people all over Western New York how they felt about the potenital Trump check and what they would spend it on. Needless to say, the answers were kind of funny.

As it stands right now, if the $5,000 checks are issued to Americans, it would see around $1.2 trillion come out of the taxpayers bank account at the Treasury.

This also isn't the latest offer of money to Americans as the President said that $500 Affordable Care Act refunds were going out, along with $90 payments going to some people with Medicare Part-B.
