Would you trade the Sabres for the Buffalo Braves right now?
Considering how badly the Sabres have been playing lately, I have been wondering if it would be better to trade them to LA in exchange for returning the Clippers Braves back to Buffalo.
Can you blame me for feeling this way? Just think about it, the Los Angeles Clippers Buffalo Braves are just below .500 in the NBAs Western Conference. If the NBA playoffs were to start today, the Clippers Braves would hold the 8th seed in the West and be well-positioned to win during the play-in tournament. The Clippers' Braves average game attendance also ranks right in the middle of all NBA teams.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres rank right near the bottom of the Atlantic Conference in the NHL and have been having a hard time getting people to attend games at the Key Bank Center. Attendance is down more than 50% when compared to the last 10 years.
The Clippers Braves have made the playoffs 8 out of the last 10 years, while the Sabres haven't seen the postseason since the 2011 season.
Buffalo was once a 3-sport-city, with the Bills, Sabres, and Buffalo Braves all having teams in the city and I think that we still have the fanbase to support 3 teams, especially with how successful some of the NBA's smaller market teams have been.
It already seems that the Sabres are up for sale on Craigslist, now we just gotta the powers that be to get working on stealing the Braves back.
