As testing continues to ramp up in WNY, the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been discovered in Erie County. Per the Erie County Department of Health via Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz's Twitter account, three samples from Erie County residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

UPDATE: During his Sunday morning press conference, Poloncarz confirmed that the three confirmed cases were found in the city of Buffalo, the town of Grand Island and the town of Clarence.

The tests were performed by the Erie County Public Health Lab and were confirmed positive this (Saturday) afternoon. Experts are already in the process of identifying those who came into contact with the positive test subjects and are being placed in mandatory quarantine.
