Today’s song is from a group of guys from Harvey, Ill. that first recorded as the El-Rays for Checker Records in 1953; now that’s a throwback for all of you new school boys and girl -- and maybe even some of you old school men and women!

In 1955, they changed their name to The Dells and remained intact into the 1980s, with the exception of one member.

In 1971, they released a song called “The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)”, which sailed into the top ten on the Billboard R&B Chart.

Some 28 years later, a group of guys from Baltimore decided to remake this great song from this legendary group, and although it did not do as well on the chart (#48), it still was a great ballad some three decades later.

What are your thoughts: Does Dru Hill get a favorable nod for this remake?
