Suspect Arrested in Niagara Square Vandalism
Person arrested in Niagara Square vandalism incident in Buffalo.
A woman has been arrested for allegedly vandalising Niagara Square this weekend, according to WIVB. Police arrested 31-year-old Sarah Harvey of Buffalo in connection to the incident, which happened on Saturday. She has been charged with felony criminal mischief for using red paint to display several messages about social and criminal justice on the monuments in front of City Hall.
Harvey wrote messages like, "You murdered Richard Metcalf" and "You Killed India Cummings," in red paint, which looks like it was supposed to signify blood. Richard Metcalf died under suspicious circumstances at the Erie County Holding Center,
“What we know is that he didn't receive any interventions from the facility relative to his mental health and the problems he was having while he was there, nor did they have the proper training for any of the deputies.” ~ Attorney Mike Scinta of the Brown Chiari law firm via WKBW
India Cummings also died while in custody at the Erie County Holding Center, according to CBS News,
"India Cummings died at the Erie County Medical Center Feb. 21, 2016, after suffering a pulmonary embolism resulting from renal failure, rhabdomyolysis (a breakdown of muscle tissue), dehydration and an untreated broken arm, according to a June report issued by the New York State Commission of Correction."
There have been many deaths at the Erie County Holding Center, which has caused many people to accuse the Sherriff and holding center deputies of abuse.
Buffalo Police Department had released a video via its Facebook page, asking for help in identifying the suspect.
