These tacos range from strange to "not for the faint of heart." While I love Mexican food, the only connection some of these tacos have to Mexico is the tortilla shell. Would you try a tripe taco? If you don't know what tripe is, you'll find out a little further down in this article that it's probably not your cup of tea. That's on the extreme side, but for someone who lived in a border-state (Arizona), even a tuna salad taco is a strange enough filling to make the list. Check out the spots in Buffalo and surrounding below that offer up the strangest tacos in Western New York:

1. Bacon Taco

TOCINO crispy smoked thick cut bacon, chili mayo, shredded lettuce, salsa fresca, pickled onion, jalapeño, cilantro

While a bacon taco isn't the strangest taco on the list, it's definitely not a taco filling you can find anywhere like chicken or ground beef. Deep South Taco is where you can find it.

2. Scorpion Taco
Also available at Deep South Taco is the Scorpion taco, which is described as the "World's Hottest Ever,"

scorpion red chili chicken, ghost pepper cheese, habanero slaw, diced jalapeño, scorpion chili dust, cilantro, served luchador style with bean purée.

You can visit their website for more taco options. There are two Deep South Taco locations in WNY - 291 Ellicott St, Buffalo, NY 14203 and 1707 Hertel Ave, Buffalo, NY 14216. Both can be reached by calling (716) 235-8464.

3. Tripa Taco

Described on the La Divina Tacos menu as a "gut" taco, this is not your ordinary taco filling. While "guts" are a delicacy in many cultures, most Americans are not keen on eating them. It will set you back $4 per taco.

4. Lengua Taco

Also available at La Divina Tacos, this is a beef tongue taco. I don't really eat beef, but I can still think of about 10 other parts of the cow that I would rather eat than its tongue. This taco is also $4. La Divina is located at 2896 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14217. You can give them a call at (716) 447-8989 or visit their website for more info.

5. Aloha Shrimp

We've ventured into the strangest of strange, so let's bring it back to "just a little weird." The Aloha shrimp taco sounds like it would be delightful over rice, but I never would have though of putting it in a tortilla. Available at Lloyd Taco Factory, it's made up of,

Crispy coconut shrimp piña colada sauce cilantro rice pineapple salsa

Lloyd Taco Factory has two locations - 1503 Hertel Ave, Buffalo, NY 14216 and 5933 Main St. Williamsville, NY 14221. Both locations can be reached at (716) 863-9781 or via Whereslloyd.com.

6. Tuna Taco

We've strayed so far from what Mexican food is. This taco is strangely gross to me. If I am not mistaken, Jim's basically takes the same tuna mix used in its subs and puts it in a taco. Jim's tacos remind me of Jack-n-the-Box tacos (not the upper echelon). The tuna taco features,

Tuna mix with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on a soft, flour tortilla

Sounds way better between two pieces of bread, but if this floats your fishing boat, you can pick it up at any Jim's location. You can visit Jim's website for more "taco" options.

7. Greek Falafel Taco

I love Greek food but never considered it taco filling. That's where me and Tacos, Community & Beer differ. They have a Greek Falafel taco that's filled with Falafel, Tzatziki, spinach, feta cheese, and red onion. It will set you back $5.45.

8. Johnny’s Buffalo Chicken
Also available at TCB is a filling made from the food Buffalo is known for - wings. The Buffalo chicken taco features shredded chicken, diced carrots & celery, bleu cheese and hot sauce. It's perfect for game days, when wings just aren't enough and only adding tortillas to the mix can take things over the top. The Buffalo chicken tacos are $4.50 each.

9. Sashimi Tuna
Tacos, Community & Beer, located at 6449 Transit Rd, East Amherst, NY 14051, has a menu full of weird tacos, including this Asian-inspired taco. This taco filling sounds more suitable suishi. It's made from lightly seared tuna, Wasabi aioli, and pineapple mango salsa. It costs $6.45. TCB can be reached at (716) 458-0380 or you can visit its website.

10. Crab Taco
Seafood-lovers, if Baja fish tacos aren't doing it for you anymore, why not try a crab taco? I never envisioned crab being paired with corn or flour tortillas, but Stevo’s did. You can try it at 6811 Erie Road, Derby, NY 14047. Visit Stevo's website for more or call (716) 947-9146.
