The weather on Tuesday and Wednesday across New York State has been feeling more like late spring, rather than mid-October.

Temperatures reached the '70s in many spots on Tuesday and/or Wednesday, with most regions reaching at least the mid-60's, including Western New York off Lake Erie.

Those summer-like temperatures are coming to an end on Thursday and looking ahead to next week, there will be much colder temperatures ahead for New York State.

A cold front comes through the state early on Thursday, with temperatures dropping into the 40's by Thursday night. Heavy rain and even rolls of thunder are possible with this system as we fall into cooler temperatures by the weekend.

It's early next week, however, that has meteorologists interested.

The temperatures will struggle to get out of the 40's on Monday and Tuesday and yes, there is a growing chance of lake effect snow for portions of New York State, especially Western New York and the southern tier part of Western New York.

Jonathan Erdman of The Weather Channel tweeted out the look for New York and the northeast/great lakes come Sunday into Tuesday. As you can see, much colder weather on the way and lake effect snow possible.

Right now, early weather outlooks in Western New York are calling for a high of 43 and a low of 36 in Buffalo on Tuesday, with snow and rain mixing. The winds will be 16 mph and likely gusting past 20 mph.

For the southern tier portion of Western New York (Cherry Creek to be exact), the high for next Tuesday is 39 and a low of 32...

We probably won't know the exact outlook of what's to come Monday and Tuesday in New York State, for regions off Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, but it's looking decent or the first accumulating snowfall coming next week.
