Friday was a pretty messy day for Western New York. Snow, sleet and dangerous freezing rain, which led to a few minor accidents across the region.

Saturday also saw some snow, mainly in the morning, as that cold air whips across Western New York. It's a sharp contrast to the weather we saw last Sunday through Tuesday, when temperatures climbed into the 40's and even low 50's.

Sunday should be mostly okay, but now there's the threat of more snow showers and these will come in the way of dangerous snow squalls.

According to the National Weather Service, an arctic cold front moves through the region on Sunday and this could produce snow squalls in Western New York.

Snow squalls are dangerous because they drop a heavy amount of snow in a very short amount of time. They don't last very long, but can easily cause white out conditions and leave drivers helpless who are caught driving during the snow squall.

If you're wondering, yes, snow squalls are what we saw last weekend. Some in Buffalo even heard thunder snow, as snow squalls moves across the region.

If you have to drive on Sunday, it's best to have weather alerts set up on your phone, so you know when a snow squall is approaching.

I was woken up last Saturday by the thunder snow and I could not even see out of my bedroom window -- that's how dangerous a snow squall can be. It leaves you with zero visibility.
