Stuck In The House With The Kids? Try These Activities
Living in Western New York is synonymous with living with cold and snowy weather, and from time to time that cold and snow will result in us being stuck in the house with our little ones. But what exactly do you do with them to keep from going crazy?
Buffalo is filled with some hearty folks. However, considering it's currently so cold that many businesses and schools have decided to close, maybe it's best that we all stay inside for a while.
well, when you have the strange combination of closed schools and businesses and you add below near temperatures with below-zero windchill to the mix, you end up with a really tough situation that many of us would normally run away from: Being Stuck At Home With The Kids.
Now, don't get me wrong, I know we all love our kids, but you have to admit that it's sometimes nice to get away from them sometimes.
What Do You Do When You're Snowed In With The Kids?
Since it's looking like Buffalo and Western New York may need to stay inside for a little while, here are just a few ideas of things you can do with the kids to keep everyone from going crazy.
Put The Kids To Work
Snowdays growing up in the Nice household was actually not something my siblings and I looked forward to, it was the time for us to do all sorts of household chores that our parents just seemed to make up out of thin air. So go ahead and put those kids to work cleaning those undercabinet baseboards that no one is ever going to look at anyway.
Go Play In The Snow
Whether you decide to go sledding, build a snowman, or just have a good old snowball fight, why not just embrace the fact that the snow is finally here and go enjoy it?
Play Video Games
Believe it or not, some of the best bonding times I've had with my sons are when we play video games together. With literally hundreds of different types of game options, you'll be able to find something that you all will enjoy. So go ahead and grab the sticks and play a few games of FIFA.
Break Out The Board Games
If you, or the kids, aren't the outdoor kind of people, then just break out the playing cards or board games. Whether it's Trouble, Sorry, Buffalopoly, Life, Connect4, or checkers; there is something out there that just about everyone in the family will enjoy. My personal favorite is chess, but whatever it is, grab the game and play a few rounds.
