For the First Time In Three Weeks This Is Happening In Buffalo
For many who call Western and Central New York home, it is well known that from October to April, or sometimes later, you can expect to have to deal with cold air and winter weather. People who came outside of the house on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, noticed something that we haven't had a whole lot of lately, and, while it's a welcome arrival, we shouldn't get used to it.
Since January 22, 2026, Western New York has had to deal with below-freezing high temperatures. Spending multiple days in below-freezing weather can have an impact on you. While the people of Buffalo are a hearty bunch who can deal with just about anything you throw at them, there comes a point where you just have to throw your hands in the air and yell, "Oh come on!"
Many people think that day was in fact on Monday, February 9, 2026, when Buffalo had a low temperature of -7°F. Those frigid temperatures, which haven't been seen in the Buffalo area in years, were sort of a breaking point, as the very next day, the Buffalo region experienced something that hasn't happened in nearly a month.
Buffalo's Temperature Rises Above Freezing For The First Time In Weeks
From a dangerously low temperature of -7°F on Monday, February 9, 2026, the high temperature in Buffalo rose to 44°F according to the National Weather Service. That swing in the temps, which amounts to a 51° change in just one day, is a welcome sight in Buffalo, which has been super cold over the last few weeks.
However, Western New Yorkers shouldn't be too comfortable in the warm weather as it's going back below freezing on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, with temps expected to hover in the 20°'s. A winter weather advisory is in effect in Western New York because more snow and cold are coming back.
