New Grants Available To Small Business In Buffalo, New York

Owning and running a business in New York State isn't always easy.

One of the biggest complaints business owners have about operating in the Empire State is the vast amount of rules and regulations they must follow. You couple this with our sky-high taxes, and you have the perfect storm for some businesses to struggle to succeed.

Due to this and other factors, the local government in Buffalo has teamed up with a few non-profits to introduce a new small business grant program to help make things a little easier for new businesses to keep going in the 716.

The Buffalo Small Business Assistance Program Is Now Available

The City of Buffalo, in partnership with Grow America, The Exchange at Beverly Gray, and the Buffalo Urban League, is making a pot of money available to local businesses. The Buffalo Small Business Assistance Program, called SBAP for short, was developed to support small and minority business owners in the City of Buffalo and help them recover from the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This new initiative will provide operational funding and technical assistance to small businesses in Buffalo. More than $3.5 million is available for grant payments, and another $800,000 is being set aside to offer business technical support.

Eligible use of grant proceeds include operating working capital expenses for your small business such as payroll, contract labor, purchase of equipment, rent, utilities or other permitted uses.

While $3.5 million seems like a lot of money, businesses that believe they are eligible are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later as the funds are limited. Once the funds are exhausted, the program will end.
