Rich Homie Quan Charged With Felony Weed Possession
After being arrested on suspicion of weapons and drugs possession a couple days ago, Rich Homie Quan has officially been charged with felony weed possession in Georgia, according to TMZ.
The celeb site reports Quan has been charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute and will be held in the Jefferson County Jail until at least his bond hearing on Friday. Sources tell TMZ the drug he had was weed, but they don't know how much he had. Georgia has especially strict drug laws, however, and though possession of less than an ounce of marijuana counts as a misdemeanor, possession of an ounce or more is a felony. If Quan is convicted, TMZ says he could be facing up to 30 years in jail.
On Saturday (May 27), Quan and a couple associates were booked after being stopped at a police checkpoint in Wadley, Ga. They were on their way to Club Liquids, but police picked them up on suspicion of possession of ecstasy and weed.
Quan is in the midst of a comeback of sorts. Earlier this year, he released his Back to the Basics project, which was well-received by fans and critics alike. It's the first project as part of his new deal with Capitol, but now he's hit a bump in the road.
In a recent conversation we had with the Atlanta rapper, he told us about his plans to release a new album in July and his goal of winning a Grammy. "I just want me a Grammy. I want to bring a Grammy back to Atlanta, you know what I’m saying?" he told us. "I just want the Grammy in the end. I’m trying to make stadium music. I know I can. I know where I’ve been. Now I want to make stadium music, that’s where I want to go."
XXL has reached out to Quan's team for comment.
