The lofts at 201 Ellicott Street in downtown Buffalo are getting even closer to opening. I walked around the building and progress is definitely being made. The building will offer residents downtown living and bring a mixed-use building to the area.  There is a grocery store, Braymiller, which is attached to the building.  The project is managed by Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation,

201 Ellicott is planned as an exciting mixed-use development for downtown Buffalo’s Central Business District.  The project, totaling over 200,000 square feet includes 201 affordable apartments and a fresh food market.  The residential component will reach a height of 5 stories along Ellicott Street and 7 stories along Oak Street and will include 131 one-bedroom units and 70 two-bedroom units.

The apartments at 201 Ellicott will provide affordable housing and will be available for rent through Belmont Housing,

It will offer 201 affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments in one - and - two - bedroom configurations, ranging in size from 623 SF to 850 SF. These units will be available to renters earning 50%-80% of the Area Median Income. Tenants of 201 Ellicott will enjoy laundry on each floor, storage opportunities, a transit shelter on-site, proximity to the fresh food market, and other exciting amenities.

According to a "progress" memo released by Ciminelli, the building is expected to be open this fall. The attached grocery store, which is named the Braymiller Market, is expected to open on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, according to a sign on the door.

I used to live downtown and one of the drawbacks was that there was no grocery store. While there were a few pharmacies, a "dollar" store in Main Place Mall and a convenience store, getting fresh fruits and vegetables always required a trip out of downtown. Although I don't live downtown, our studios are a few blocks from Braymiller, so it will be nice to do some shopping there after work.
