President Trump Tweeted on Wednesday morning that if American schools do not reopen in the fall, he will consider cutting off funding for schools. He cited several European countries who have schools open as an example of why this should be done.

Schools have been closed for the safety of children as we are still facing a pandemic. In the United States, medical experts are advising against opening up schools, but President Trump is at a place now where he is openly expressing that he disagrees with some of his own medical staff, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases according to news reports.

We’re very much going to put pressure on governors and everybody else to open the schools, to get them open,” Mr. Trump said at a forum at the White House. “It’s very important. It’s very important for our country. It’s very important for the well-being of the student and the parents. So we’re going to be putting a lot of pressure on: Open your schools in the fall.
