If you're like me and grew up in the '90s and the early-to-mid 2000s in Western New York, then you probably went to places like Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, Ponderosa and Kahunaville.

Another popular place to visit was Pizza Hut.

Yes, this is Buffalo and as we all know, the local pizzerias here rise above the national chains and always will. However, Pizza Hut was such a huge part of childhood and teenage memories for people my age and the recent news that Pizza Hut would be returning to Western New York after a two-year absence was music to many ears.

Buffalo Business First reported earlier this year that Pizza Hut would return with 10 new Pizza Hut locations in total and now, according to WGRZ, we know that four locations have already begun construction.

The new Pizza Hut locations that have begun construction include:

  • Amherst
  • Cheektowaga
  • Depew
  • Kenmore

It's unclear when exactly these four locations will open but considering all 10 locations will be carry-out and not dine-in, it's reason to think that we shouldn't have to wait too long for these locations to open to the public.

Some of my earliest memories as a kid included being inside a Pizza Hut, more specifically, the location located on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst (across from TOPS).

The Book It! campaign and getting free pan pizzas. The foam baseball bats. The arcade games like Pole Position. The salad bar. The fresh breadsticks. So many people grew up on that and even though these won't be dine-in, it's good to get Pizza Hut back in Western New York.
