Parents: Attend a Call to Address School Re-Opening
All parents are invited to join a call on Thursday, July 30, to discuss schools reopening.
Parents, you can attend the National Parent Advocacy Gathering call on Thursday, July 30th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This is your chance to connect with state-wide parent advocates and voice your concerns about schools reopening amidst the coronavirus pandemic. You can join the call by RSVPing with Marissa at malberty@edtrust.org. You'll receive the Zoom link to attend.
"We believe that authentic parent voice should be at every decision-making table. We have a group of state-level parent leaders from various states that will be leading this discussion. This is an urgent moment. We are facing a dual pandemic: COVID-19 and systematic racism. You all are powerful voices and we would love to have you bring your knowledge to the call." ~ Duncan Kirkwood, Education Trust NY Family Fellows via an email sent to me
Here is the agenda of the call:
-Former Secretary of Education John King speaks
-Overview of Education Trust and the need for the parent voice
-5 min presentations from states about elevating the voices of parents and the priorities for reopening schools
-Time for questions and comments
-Invitation to a community of practice to grow the national parent advocacy community
-Closing thoughts
