Unfortunately, Frightworld's doors will remain closed this Halloween, thanks to COVID-19. According to WKBW, the 2020 season has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.

Frightworld America's Screampark released a statement addressing its decision to not open,

"With the new, New York State regulations for haunted houses, and the continuing increase of cases in Western New York, Frightworld feels it is in the best interest of our customers and employees to not open this Fall. Buffalo’s safety has always been, and will continue to be, Frightworld’s top priority.
Frightworld says people should visit Escape City Buffalo and play their horror themed game Body Collectors for people to get their Halloween fix."

The haunted house's website says "see you next year," which hopefully is the case! They did offer up Escape City Buffalo, their escape rooms and their game Body Collectors to people who are still looking for ways to celebrate Halloween.

Another of the popular haunted houses in WNY, House of Horrors and Haunted Catacombs, doesn't seem to have released a statement yet on whether or not it will reopen. Its website currently has the 2019 schedule listed though, so it may be choosing to stay closed too.
