Road Closures For Buffalo's New Year's Ball Drop & Fireworks Celebration

New York State's second-largest city is hosting its 37th Annual New Year's Ball Drop and Fireworks Celebration in the middle of downtown Buffalo on New Year's Eve, Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

The ball drop happens in Buffalo's Roosevelt Square, right in front of the Electric Tower and the festivities get started at 10p, and the ball drops promptly at midnight. There are going to be fireworks, great family activities, and live music.

Because of this, several roads around downtown Buffalo will be closed on Tuesday, and the Buffalo Police Buffalo recommends that you avoid trying to drive around Roosevelt Square. The following streets will be closed:

  • From 1pm Tuesday to 6am Wednesday:
    • Chippewa Street, from Delaware Avenue and Pearl
  • From 4pm Tuesday to 2am Wednesday:
    • East Huron Street, from Pearl and Ellicott Streets;
    • Genesee Street, from Huron and Ellicott;
    • Main Street, from Mohawk and Chippewa Streets;
    • Washington Street, between Mohawk and Chippewa.

But the ball drop and fireworks aren't the only things happening in the 716 on New Year's Eve.
