New York Seeks Higher Penalty if Caught With Fake Vaccines
Top New York officials demand change after seeing an alarming rise in fake vaccines.
Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah has joined District Attorneys from Bronx County, Kings County, Queens County, Richmond County, Nassau County, Suffolk County and New York County in urging Governor Kathy Hochul to sign legislation that would strengthen New York’s laws against possessing or forging fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination cards or digital passports.
In a signed letter to the governor, seen below, the group claims to have seen a rise in illegal vaccine cards.
"We are seeing a rise in schemes in which vaccine cards are forged, sold and passed off as real, and we are alarmed at the public health threat this poses," the letter states. See the full letter below:
If signed, altering a COVID-19 vaccine card would be considered a Computer Tampering offense.
