While part of Buffalo's national reputation is that its super cold and snowy all the time due to the fact that Western New York sometimes resembles Hoth, those of us who live in the 716 know better. Summers in the Buffalo area of quite good, with warm and sunny days that gives us plenty of opportunity to get outside and do fun stuff.

Buffalo's hot and humid weather is going to come in handy for one group of folks who plan to take a rather unique bike ride around the 716 that is sure to turn heads and raise a few eyebrows.

If the idea of riding a bicycle naked has never crossed your mind, it might now thanks to a protest that has been making its way around the nation and its coming back to Buffalo again this summer. Since 2004, The World Naked Bike Ride has taken to cities around the world with people riding bikes around various towns and cities naked as a form of protest against climate change, car culture and the expansion of greenhouse gasses around the world.

In 2026 the WNBR is going to peddle into more than 150 cities with the Buffalo ride set for August 1, 2026. This year will be the 11th year folks around Buffalo and Western New York will ride naked around town.

The bike route, which hasn't been announced yet, is usually between 10 and 13 miles long and winds its way through the city. While many people are expected to be naked while out on the road, the ride organizers have several rules that they enforce for the bikers as they bare all on Buffalo's streets.

As news of the return of the bike ride has been hitting the internets around Buffalo, more people have bene speaking out for and against the ride. New York State Law allows for all people to be topless in the state, but being totally naked could be considered Indecent Exposure of a Person and Public Lewdness.
