Mendeecees Harris Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking, Faces 10-Year Prison Sentence
Mendeecees Harris, a star on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop reality show, is headed to prison. The 36-year-old rap manager pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges in federal court on Tuesday (April 21).
According to Democrat & Chronicle, Harris admitted to shipping $2.5 million worth of heroin and cocaine to upstate New York between 2005 and 2012. It took nearly an hour for Harris to answer all of the questions related to what U.S. District Judge Frank Geraci Jr. called "a rather complicated agreement."
Harris’ attorney, Donald Thompson, told the newspaper that the reality star is facing an eight to 10-year sentence in federal prison and four to five years of supervised release. In addition, he will have to pay a fine ranging between $15,000 to $5 million.
Under the federal deal, Harris must also forfeit all of the monies he has earned during his appearance on Love & Hip Hop, which totaled over $103,000.
Harris is currently free on a $600,000 bail package. He is expected to be sentenced on Aug. 31.
This will certainly give Harris and his fiancee, Yandy Smith, plenty of time to get married and have a honeymoon. The couple plans to tied the knot live for a VH1 special called Love & Hip Hop Live: The Wedding. The program airs on May 25 at 8PM ET.
