It's not every day that you hear something like this happen, but for now the payments have been suspended on the latest Mega Millions game.

The jackpot was estimated at 86 million dollars but those checks won't be going out any time soon.

Imagine you get up to check the numbers on the lottery to see if you could quit your job only to find that you got it.  You finally got the numbers you needed...then you find out that they gave out the wrong number!  Hopefully you didn't call your boss and say anything that you can't take back!

That's what happened this week as the New York State Lottery has announced that they made a mistake and had published an incorrect number when it comes to the May 10th Mega Millions drawing.  They had incorrectly announced the winning numbers with the mega ball as 6.

Here's their official announcement with regard to the drawing:

"After the May 10, 2022 Mega Millions drawing, human error resulted in the incorrect input of the winning numbers in New York State, resulting in an incorrect publishing of the Mega Ball number. The New York Lottery is actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The Lottery has temporarily suspended prize payments for all Mega Millions tickets and all Mega Millions players should hold on to their tickets for the May 10, 2022 drawing until the issue is resolved."

The only number that was incorrect was the mega ball.  The correct numbers for the May 10 drawing are 15-19-20-61-70, with the Mega Ball 9.

There is no word at this point when the payouts can be expected.
