The suspect in the fatal workplace shooting is in custody. The shooting happened on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Niagara Metals, located at 4861 Packard Drive in Niagara Falls. The victim, who was shot in the back of the head, according to what Niagara Metals President Todd Levin told WGRZ, died in the morning. Police arrived on the scene around 8:16 am. The suspect in the deadly workplace shooting, Matthew Figura Jr., has been apprehended by authorities, according to WIVB. Figura fled the scene and was caught by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office in the Town of Sardinia.

The Mayor of Niagara Falls, Robert Restanio, told WKBW,

"I don't know if it was workplace violence — I don't know if it was a personal matter and that's what I’m hoping we find out more about once conversations start going on with the individual that has been apprehended. That's the part that right now continues to be the blind spot —what did create this circumstance that resulted in this incident and I don't have a direct answer to that yet."

The victim has not been publicly identified by authorities yet.
