3-Year-Old Lockport Child Brutally Attacked By Dogs, In Critical Condition
A 3-year-old child in Lockport is in critical condition after being viciously attacked by dogs. The Niagara County Sheriff says the child was attacked by numerous family-owned dogs, according to the department's Facebook page. The tragic incident happened at a residence on Glendale Drive in the town of Lockport, according to the Sheriff's report.
On April 12, 2023, at approximately 9:40 am, Niagara County Sheriff's Communications Center got a 911 call about the attack. Deputies and Emergency Services personnel responded to the scene and provided first aid to the child. The 3-year-old was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition. The dogs were removed by the SPCA of Niagara County. The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau is conducting an investigation into the attack.

More than 50 percent of all dog bite victims are children. While only 12 percent of adults require medical treatment, 26 percent of all children need to go to the emergency room or see a doctor. The most likely place for the attack to occur is in the home of the victim. The second most likely place is at the home of a friend of the victim. Seventy-seven percent of biting dogs are owned by the victim’s family, a relative or a friend of the family.
