This Sunday, June 12, Lil Wayne will perform on MTV Unplugged and the rap superstar will pay homage to rap legend Tupac Shakur, covering his hit “Hail Mary.” Weezy plans on dropping his highly anticipated album Tha Carter IV this summer, but according to MTV, Wayne’s is more concerned with commemorating one of the all-time great rap lyricists than promoting a new release. “I knew because this is my Unplugged, I said, ‘I want to do some kind of tribute to one of those great artists, it’s just something about ‘Pac and I. I picked the second verse, ‘Penitentiaries is packed with the promise makers,’ and I was like, ‘That whole verse is just perfect. They never realized the precious time that they wasting.”
