Lil Reese Arrested on Indirect Criminal Contempt Charges
Lil Reese is behind bars today after being arrested yesterday (Jan. 30) on indirect criminal contempt charges.
According to Complex, his current vacation in the Cook County Jail is a result of his arrest in 2014 for possession of a firearm. According to internet inmate database JailBase, no bond has been set for the rapper.
Reese, born Tavares Taylor, is no stranger to the department of corrections. In May 2010, he pleaded guilty to burglary charges and was given two years of probation. In April 2013, the Chicago rapper was arrested while sleeping in a car and charged with trespassing, mob action and battery, which stemmed from a February 2012 incident.
Two months later he was charged with misdemeanor theft. In that case, court records said Reese presented false documentation to obtain a 2006 BMW 750 Li on April 13, 2013.
Following his 2014 arrest he accused the police of setting him up by planting a gun on his person. "Police fufu put a gun on me but I'm out tho wat y'all talking bout I ain't got my phone rite na but imma getup wit y'all...#300," he tweeted after getting freed on bond.
According to a recent Instagram post, the rapper was in court for an undisclosed matter seven weeks ago.
Lil Reese signed with Def Jam back in 2012, off the strength of his appearance on Chief Keef's "I Don't Like" and songs like "Us" and "Beef." On his nearly four years on the label he has failed to make a big impact and doesn't seem close to dropping his debut album.
