Kodak Black to Be Released From Jail in August
Kodak Black's year-long prison sentence may be coming to an end much earlier than expected.
According to court information, the "Calldrops" rapper's sentence in the Broward County Main Jail has been reduced, and he will now be released this August. Initially, Kodak was sentenced to serve time behind bars until early October. However, Kodak has reportedly been credited for an additional 30 days of time served, bringing his grand total to 120 days.
As a result of this, the Heartbreak Kodak artist could be walking free as soon as next month. In fact, the updated court order by the Broward Sheriff's Office lists his expected release as Aug. 18. Upon his release, Kodak will reportedly no longer require probation.
Back in April, Kodak was sentenced to one year in jail after he pleaded guilty to two probation violations stemming from a January arrest for drugs and weapons charges. His arrest originally included charges of grand theft firearm, possession of cannabis over 20 grams and child neglect after an Instagram Live broadcast featured a child in the midst of marijuana smoke and handguns. However, the charge of child neglect was later dropped after Kodak's lawyers argued that there was no way of proving the authenticity of the guns and drugs.
Since his run-in with the law, Kodak has been making productive use of his time behind bars. Just last month, the rapper earned his high school diploma and has been working on autobiographical novel as he serves his time. So, the sky really is limit once he's granted his freedom.
