How many times have you sat down and scanned your TV channels or apps like Hulu and Netflix and claimed you can't find anything to watch.
You end up going back and re-watching a show or movie for the 4th or 5th time.
The reason you might not be able to find anything new to watch is that you could be watching TV the wrong way.
Yes, new data shows that we are too impatient when it comes to new TV programs.
I am the first to admit, if a TV show doesn't grab my attention within the first 2 or 3 episodes, I usually don't stick around to watch after that. Why would I invest my time in something that doesn't really interest me?
Well..that is the problem. With that attitude, we are watching TV the wrong way.
Most new shows, according to new data from IMDB, take around 6 episodes to get really good. This gives them enough time to develop characters and story arcs and allows you to connect with the characters and become vested in the story lines.

How many new shows have you watched six times? If you are like me, slim to none. I am usually out by the third episode.
Think about some of the greatest TV shows that have been produced. Each one of these, according to the study, took more than 6 episodes to hook viewers and gain traction in the ratings.
"Friends": 7
"Seinfeld": 16
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer": 8
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia": 8
Even "Breaking Bad" took 6 episodes before the ratings took off.
So if you want to stop flipping and searching, maybe give that one show a couple more episodes to win you over and you could end up with a new favorite.
