National Pancake Day was started by IHOP restaurants in 2006. The company created the "holiday" as a way to help raise money for charity.

This year National Pancake Day is taking place today, February 13th.

CAN I REALLY GET PANCAKES FOR FREE?

Yes and no. If you live outside of New York or New Jersey, you can get pancakes for free. According to state laws, in New York and New Jersey, you must donate at least one dollar to get your pancakes.

HOW MUCH MONEY HAS IHOP RAISED FOR CHARITY?

Since they launched National Pancake Day in 2006, IHOP has raised almost $30 million dollars nationwide for charities. They ask every customer who takes part in National Pancake Day to make a donation if they can.

WHICH CHARITY IS IHOP SUPPORTING THIS YEAR?

The money raised from this year's National Pancake Day will be donated to Feeding America. They are working on ending hunger in America. For every dollar donated, they can serve someone in need 10 meals.
