Most Western New Yorkers will soon be taking down their Christmas decorations and will be asking the question what do I do with my Christmas tree?

Here in Western New York, there are a couple of different ways you can dispose of your Christmas tree.

You could reach out to local farms, some farmers will use old Christmas trees as treats for their animals on the farm.

You can also leave your tree out for pickup from your city and town. If you plan on doing that, just know that there are some rules you need to follow. Most towns and cities ask you to place your tree in a garage bag before you place it at the curb. You must remove all the decorations from the tree as well before you leave it for pick up.

In the city of Buffalo, you can also drop your tree off at the city's yard waste contractor, Geiter Done of WNY, at 383 Babcock Ave. They are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. You will need to show proof of residency in order to drop off your tree without paying a fee.
