By all accounts, summertime is a great time of year in Western New York and Southern Ontario. Once we emerge from our winter hibernation and the temperatures begin to warm up, we come to realize that we only have a few precious weeks to enjoy the fun and sun, as winter will be back before we know it.

With the arrival of June, we've landed right smack in the middle of festival and event season in the 716. If you take a look at the calendar, it seems like there is something fun going on every single day, and that means your summer to-do list is packed. With so much going on, it's quite easy to lose track of what's happening, and some things will sneak right up on you.

That happened to me this morning as I realized that one of the most coveted events in Buffalo is here, and for the thousands of people who will descend on Delaware Park, people like me who live in North Buffalo have a few suggestions for you as you invade our neighborhood.

The Corporate Challenge Is Here For Buffalo

Buffalo loves a good party and does not need any excuse to find a reason to eat or drink, and that includes a road race. One of the most popular road races is here, and the annual JP Morgan Corporate Challenge is set to take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Delaware Park and North Buffalo, bringing thousands of people to the city for this great event.

While some folks are there to run in an incredible 3 1/2 mile race along the streets of North Buffalo, most are there for the party that happens in the park, and as someone who has done this many times over the years, it's one heck of a party with tons of food, drinks, music, celebrations, and fun.

This is especially true since the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge has selected Feedmore WNY as its beneficiary for 2025.

However, as someone who lives in North Buffalo, I know I can speak for many of my neighbors that there are a few rules that we hope you will adhere to when coming to town.

Open Letter To Folks Running In The Corporate Challenge In Buffalo

While it's a super fun event, there are a few things to keep in mind when you and a few thousand of your friends come into a neighborhood and take over for a few hours.

The Corporate Challenge FAQ has some valuable information to keep in mind, but there are also a few additional points we can include on the list. Please be mindful of the people who live around the park and:

  • There will be a lot of traffic, so please try to keep your road rage to a minimum while searching for parking.
  • Since we're discussing parking, please refrain from parking on our lawns or blocking our driveways. Parking is a precious commodity around the city of Buffalo, and it's even more difficult when you can't get in or out of your house because someone blocked you in.
  • Please pick up your trash; the crews do a good job of cleaning up the park and streets after the race, but remember, people live here, so don't be a litterbug and please toss your trash in a can.
  • Remember, front lawns and back yards are NOT porta-potties; there are tons of stations on the course for you to relieve yourself.
  • Don't forget to have fun and say hi to us when you jog by; this is the City of Good Neighbors, and all.

More than anything else, have fun and enjoy all that North Buffalo has to offer.
