Saturday, March 22, 2025, was a night long anticipated in Buffalo and Western New York for R&B music fans far and wide.

Given how good the concert season was in the 716 last year, many people were worried that 2025 would be a down year for music in the region. However, when this concert was announced about six months ago, it became apparent quickly that it would be a great show.

Even though temperatures plunged below freezing and the region saw a late March snowstorm blow in, it didn't stop nearly 20,000 people from coming down to the KeyBank Center in downtown Buffalo to see the Queen of R&B.

Mary J. Blige pledged that this North American tour was dedicated to her fans, and everyone who made their way inside the sold-out KeyBank Center in downtown Buffalo would agree. The For My Fans Tour did not disappoint one bit. If there is one thing that we can be assured of, it is that MarioNe-Yo, and Mary J. Blige will make sure we are entertained.

The doors to the KeyBank Center opened at 6 p.m., and people were greeted inside the arena by a musical soundtrack provided by Buffalo's DJ Kholes. Kholes, a music veteran from the 716, made sure the crowd had good vibes to get ready for a show that would feature three R&B powerhouses.

The concert started on time, with Mario hitting the stage as the opening act.

Mario, who is no stranger to Buffalo and keeping people in the 716 happy with his smooth voice and commanding stage presence, gave the people of Buffalo what they were looking for: a combination of great dance moves while delivering his hits. Buffalo sang along with Mario as Just a Friend, How Do I Breathe, Braid My Hair, Keep Going, Let Me Love You, and several other songs from his discography blasted from the speakers inside the KeyBank Center.

Once Mario wrapped his set, DJ Kholes returned to the 'B' stage to give Buffalo more hits he's known for delivering on the radio and in the club.

It wasn't long before the next act was ready. Kicking things off with a fantastic video montage opening scene and several beautiful dancers accompanying him, Ne-Yo jumped into some of his biggest songs. It was an incredible sight to see Buffalo singing She Got Her Own, Miss Independent, Champagne Life, Sexy Love, and more as Ne-Yo dropped hit after hit while flexing his vocal prowess.

This show was a great reminder of how many great songs Mario and Ne-Yo have in their repertoire.

The star of the evening hit the stage soon after, and with Mary J. Blige ready to perform more than 30 songs across three acts, MJB quickly reminded people why she is the Queen of R&B.

Flying across the KeyBank Center in an elevated platform that carried her from one end of the arena to the other, MJB sang so many of her hits that several people, myself included, left the arena without a voice. It seemed as if the entire arena sang Love No Limit, Mary Jane (All Night Long), You Remind Me, You Ain't The Only One, Be Happy, You're All I Need to Get By, I'm Going Down, My Life, You Bring Me Joy, Family Affair, and more word-for-word.

It goes without saying that this concert was for her fans, and Buffalo's fans loved every minute of it.
