The “6-7″ Test Some New York State Teachers Are Using
I can't tell you how many times our three boys have mentioned "6-7" in our house lately. It has gotten to the point where mom and I have asked them to stop. Mostly because we were concerned that our 9, 7 and 5-year-old were saying something that they shouldn't or is inappropriate. I still am not one hundred percent sure on that, either way.
We had a discussion on the air this week on "Clay and Company" about the use of "6-7" and even, according to our nine-year-old, the latest use of "4-1" that is making the rounds.
The trend seems to extend from the Skrilla song, "Doot Doot" and found it's way to social media greatness on "TikTok.
As for how some teachers are handling it, it varies among friends of ours who are educators in Western New York. Some are saying they "won't allow the "6-7" in their classroom". There are some who claim to be handing out this "test".
"You'll have 6-7 minutes to write a sixty-seven-word explanation of what "six-seven" means". The teacher will invite six or seven students to share.
Sometimes when I hear our kids talking at home, it makes me wonder what my parents must have thought about the things that we said when we were their age? One things is for sure, no matter when or where the combination of the number six with the number seven is going to draw attention. Our boys were going nuts over their friend's new address which happens to 6767!
