Von Miller Could Make History With One Play Against Baltimore
To say that it has been a long road back for Von Miller after his ACL injury two seasons ago would be an understatement. But he's doing everything he can to prove he's back.
When the Bills signed Von Miller, most NFL fans knew that they had somehow snagged one of the best defensive ends in the league. He was known as "the closer" because he was able to bring games to an end quickly with sacks at the perfect moment.
Up until Thanksgiving of the 2022 season, he was everything they had advertised. He was making plays on the field and helping the young guys along the way. Then during a game on Thanksgiving day in Detroit, Von injured his knee when he stepped on it. What they thought was going to just be an injury that would keep him out for a couple of weeks, turned into the rest of the season after an exploratory surgery found that instead of it being strained, he had actually torn his ACL.
The injury was devastating to the team, and to Von. He rushed rehab to get back on the field as quickly as possible but it didn't help. He really struggled to get any production. He finished with only 2 tackles for the entire 2023 season and agreed to restructure his massive contract in 2024 into one that was based more on incentives.
So far, it's been a great move for both the Bills and for Von. He's already got more sacks this year than he had in tackles for all of last year. With one sack per game in the first three games, he's got an opportunity to make history. If he gets one sack in the game on Sunday he will be the first player in franchise history to start the season on a 4 game sack streak.
The last two times he's met Lamar Jackson, he's gotten a sack in each game. Let's hope that streak continues too!
