Transit Road is going to see a complete makeover in one section that it going to cause a lot of traffic slow-downs this summer. The work is expected to take place all the way through the end of the year.

There will be a complete milling and repaving of Transit Road in a fairly large section that is costing New York State taxpayers just shy of $9 million. Transit Road will be repaved from Lockport South City Line to the Niagara County Line in Lockport and Pendleton and extend to a small portion of Clarence and East Amherst.

Gardy on Facebook said:

"If transit rd wasn’t bad enough now there is construction gonna make traffic a nightmare."

Lysa responded and said:

"Short term hell for overall improvement, though. This has been needed for a long time. Transit in Lockport is in rough shape."

A lot of people were saying why don't they just do the construction at night time and Jordan chimed in with a response:

"if the road can be closed and reopened to traffic, they do or they have time restrictions where you aren't supposed to take a lane during rush hour. For instance, Union has time restrictions from Seneca to Wehrle for 6-9am and 3-6pm. Now a lot of companies will try to work between 9 am and 3 pm because it's easier to work during the day because they don't have to rent an obscene amount of light towers to meet AASHTO standards and because many communities have noise restrictions overnight".
