Another Linebacker Injury Will Plague The Bills Against Seattle
The injury bug has hit the Buffalo Bills again. While every team deals with injuries, the Bills have been dealing with more injuries at this position than most.
They say the best ability that a player can have is avail-ability. So far that's been true for the linebacking corps of the Buffalo Bills. You may remember, the end of the 2022-2023 season the Bills were plagued with injuries to their linebackers. First they lost Matt Milano when they headed over to London to take on the Jags. Then it felt like they were putting new pieces in every week to see which one would stick. For most of the season they still had Terrel Bernard but then they lost him in the playoffs. They ended up calling AJ Klein off his couch to come and play.
The injuries are still ongoing for the linebackers this year. People were hopeful that the Bills would get both Milano and Bernard back healthy to lead this defense. Then in training camp, Milano suffered a torn bicep. It's an injury that he might be able to return from by the end of the year, but he's already missed significant time. Bernard was next to get injured. He suffered a pectoral injury early. He's since come back from that, made some plays, started to look like he was himself again, and then got injured in last week's game against the Tennessee Titans.
He has not practiced this week due to injuries and personal reasons.
This week, Coach Sean McDermott has already ruled Bernard out against the Seahawks. He's still dealing with the nagging pectoral injury, and now an ankle injury that he sustained last week.
The Bills will have to depend on their "next man up" philosophy. That would be Baylon Spector who has been pretty good against the run, but has struggled in the coverage game.
In addition to Bernard, Curtis Samuel and DeWayne Carter have also been ruled out.
